ALERT: Top Dem Indicted For Corruption, Media Hiding It

Jury selection begins today in one of the most serious corruption cases a sitting US senator has ever faced. But the mainstream media wants to ignore it.

Senator Bob Menendez (D-NY), the top Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, has been indicted on corruption charges, reports The Washington Examiner. His trial is scheduled to begin next month, yet not one cable news network has aired a minute of coverage on the story. Menendez faces 14 counts of corruption and bribery, to which he has pled not-guilty. But Conservative Reviewpoints out that though local newspapers have mentioned the story, mainstream media has been silent.

The Department of Justice indicted Sen. Menendez and New Jersey ophthalmologist Salomon Melgen in April 2015. Menendez is accused of using the power of his public office to benefit Dr. Melgen both personally and financially.

According to the criminal complaint, both Menendez and Melgen have been charged with “one count of conspiracy, one count of violating the travel act, eight counts of bribery and three counts of honest services fraud. Menendez was also charged with one count of making false statements.”

Allegedly, the senator used his power to further the eye doctor’s business interests in the senate, after having received gifts from the doctor. Both the senator and the doctor argue that the gifts, including trips to Paris, were entirely innocent. They say that there was no “official” bribery agreement between them.

In April 2015, when the charges were initially leveled, Menendez said, “I’m angry because prosecutors at the Justice Department don’t know the difference between friendship and corruption.”

However, prosecutors are having a hard time accepting Menendez’s version of innocence, especially since Dr. Melgen has received more funding from Medicare reimbursements than any other doctor in the nation.

While cable news has been completely silent about the case, online outlets have at least mentioned the groundbreaking corruption case. However, many mainstream publications have remained sympathetic to Menendez, relying on headlines supportive of the senator. For example, the Associated Press article, published by MSN, relied on the following headline for their article: “US Sen. Menendez: I’ve behaved appropriately in office.”

Essentially, the Associated Press, who makes or breaks the news, allowed the criminal defense to frame the narrative around his own indictment. Instead of merely sticking to the facts of the case, or relying on a neutral headline, the Associated Press allowed the Democrat lawmaker to have the first and final word in the article, presenting the criminal trial as a sort of witch hunt.

Similarly, a CNN Politics article from when the corruption charges first arose ran with a headline reading, “Sen. Bob Menendez: ‘I am not going anywhere.’” Again, a Left-leaning publication allowed the defense in a criminal case to frame the narrative. The idea that CNN would be so kind if a Republican was charged with conspiracy is laughable.

Headlines like these are why so many Americans distrust the media. Instead of merely parsing the facts in an unbiased manner, many mainstream stories are obviously on the side of the Democrats.

    Corruption always seems to climb onto soc sec, medicare, where seniors have been kicked in the butt with no raises doing without food to buy med’s, while federal employees who have received good pay and yet steal from the elder & young. Grab both the senator and doctor turn them upside down by the heals and shake very penny they have including all material goods and put it back into medicare, give back the benefits they took away from medicare and for christs sake give the seniors a raise they worked for all their lives for… an investigation on corrupted folks handling social security & using abuse of power to steal just like the story you just read……just do it!!!!

    This year the White House appointed Secretary David J. Shulkin as head of the Department of Veterans Affairs. Dr. Shulkin was a Presidential appointee in the Obama regime and like all medical doctors at that time he had to successfully pass through the Washington DC Office of Planned Parenthood, the organization that sells human tissue and harvests people. Dr. Shulkin was granted the endorsement of Planned Parenthood and later of President Trump.
    Planned Parenthood’s mission is to manage women and children for profit and commerce. The Planned Parenthood corporation has been granted “rights” over the Department of Veterans Affairs by the political swamp that runs the Nation’s Capitol. Evidently, the plan includes harvesting veterans’ tissue when they pass away in DVA facilities or in DVA control so as to recuperate the costs incurred treating them by selling tissue and body parts in the worldwide market.

    Q. What did Republicans think about helping disabled and injured veterans in 1956?
    “Veterans we believe that active duty in the Armed Forces during a state of war or national emergency is the highest call of citizenship constituting a special service to our nation and entitles those who have served to positive assistance to alleviate the injuries, hardships, and handicaps imposed by their service.
    In recognizing this principle under previous Republican Administrations we established the Veterans Administration. This Republican Administration increased compensation and pension benefits for veterans and survivors to provide more adequate levels and to offset the cost of living increases that occurred during the most recent Democratic Administration.
    We have also improved quality of hospital service and have established a long-range program for continued improvement of such service. We have strengthened and extended survivors’ benefits, thus affording greater security for all veterans in the interest of equity and justice.
    In advancing this Republican program we pledge:
    That compensation for injuries and disease arising out of service be fairly and generously provided for all disabled veterans and for their dependents or survivors;
    That a pension program for disabled war veterans in need and for their widows and orphans in need be maintained as long as necessary to assure them adequate income;
    That all veterans be given equal and adequate opportunity for readjustment following service, including unemployment compensation when needed, but placing emphasis on obtaining suitable employment for veterans, particularly those disabled, by using appropriate facilities of government and by assuring that Federal employment preference and re-employment rights, to which the veteran is entitled, are received;
    That the Veterans Administration be continued as a single independent agency providing veterans services;
    That the service-disabled continue to receive first-priority medical services of the highest standard and that non-service disabled war veterans in need receive hospital care to the extent that beds are available.”

    What is your opinion about why the GOP was pro-veteran in 1956 but is now willing to have veterans managed in the final stages of life by Planned Parenthood, the organization looking forward to gathering the corpses of our nation’s heroes?
    & why do Republicans in Congress no longer support America’s veterans?
