Barbara Bush in Failing Health, Won’t Seek Medical Treatment

Former first lady Barbara Bush is in “failing health” and will not seek additional medical treatment, a spokesperson for the Bush family said on Sunday.

“Following a recent series of hospitalizations, and after consulting her family and doctors, Mrs. Bush, now age 92, has decided not to seek additional medical treatment and will instead focus on comfort care,” spokesman Jim McGrath said in a statement released on Twitter.

McGrath did not explain why Bush had been hospitalized, though she has battled with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, commonly known as COPD, and congestive heart failure within the last year and had long been treated for Graves’ disease.

“It will not surprise those who know her that Barbara Bush has been a rock in the face of her failing health, worrying not for herself — thanks to her abiding faith — but for others,” McGrath said. “She is surrounded by family she adores, and appreciates the many kind messages and especially the prayers she is receiving.”

Bush married her husband and former president George H.W. Bush in 1945. They have been married for 73 years and have six children.

Lee you and Paulette are very hate filled people to say things like this. It isn’t nobody’s business where she will spend her afterlife, that’s between her and God. I’ve always felt that she was a very good Christian woman and I feel sad for her family, that they will soon lose her. You all need to worry about where you two will be spending eternity. Judge not lest you be judged, it’s in the Bible, you might want to think about that instead of judging others.
