The New York Times has manufactured another Russian scandal, and, of course, every other mainstream media outlet is going along with it.
However, Andrew McCabe, the FBI’s Deputy Director privately told Chief-of-Staff Reince Priebus that the story from the New York times is “BS.”
The media, CNN in particular, has turned around and reported this private conversation as the White House inappropriately asking if the FBI would intervene.
The original report from the New York Times alleged that Priebus is under FBI investigation for a connection to Russia.
Obviously, this kind of fake news would disappoint Priebus, and distract from the real Make America Great Again agenda of the Administration.
The White House reports that McCabe brought up the story, and called it BS. Priebus merely asked, “What am I supposed to do?”
McCabe’s answer was, “We’d love to help but we can’t get into the position of making statements on every story.”
Making their own statements about government matters is highly restricted by the FBI, for good reason.
Knowing this, Reince Priebus asked McCabe if he could reference “senior intelligence officials.” Notice how Priebus was careful not to even mention the FBI specifically? That was intentional, and ethical. McCabe agreed, so Priebus went ahead and told Meet the Press.
This innocent exchange has somehow been twisted beyond all recognition by CNN. They seem to be pretending that somehow Priebus made a request for McCabe himself to speak up.
Requests from the White House are supposed to be directed at the Justice Department. But, again, the FBI was never asked or convinced to make a public statement.
In fact, Director James Comey even got involved with this matter, calling Priebus up to mention the same things that McCabe did, that Priebus is NOT under investigation.
