Broncos Just Announced The Team Will No Longer Protest The National Anthem

Following President Trump’s statement condemning the disrespectful players who protested the national anthem, over 30 Denver Broncos players protested the anthem as well as a response to his comments.

Adam Gotsis, one of the payers, explained his reasons for doing so:

“I’m doing it for freedom of speech. If anyone wants to exercise their freedom through their actions, it shouldn’t matter. They’re standing up for something that they believe in. I love my brothers. I believe in what they believe in.”

As it turns out the Broncos owners don’t support the players who want to disrespect the American flag by kneeling during the national anthem.

Surprisingly, the Broncos issued a statement announcing that the whole team will no longer protest the anthem because of a new policy, starting Sunday the team will be standing during the anthem, here is the statement via Twitter:

Last week, members of our team joined their brothers around the NFL in a powerful display of unity. It was an emotional time for everyone, including the fans who support us each and every week. As controversial as it appeared, we needed to show our collective strength and resolve.

Our voices needed to be heard loud and clear.

Make no mistake — our actions were in no way a protest of the military, the flag or those who keep us safe. We have nothing but the deepest love and respect for those who protect our way of life and the freedoms we enjoy as Americans.

While there’s no greater country, it’s not perfect. Inequalities still exist, and we have work to do in ALL forms of social justice.

We can all do better.

It starts with us. We need to do our part and use our platform as NFL players to continue driving that positive change.

Our locker room is one diverse place, and that’s what makes it so special. It’s where thoughtful, intelligent leaders from all different races, religions and backgrounds come together.

We may have different values and beliefs, but there’s one thing we all agree on:

We’re a team and we stand together — no matter how divisive some comments and issues can be, nothing should ever get in the way of that.”

I am with you. You can’t kneel during the anthem and then say your not disrespecting the flag, the anthem veterans or active military because that is exactly what you are doing, not to mention the 70% of Americans that actually love this country and respect all the sacrifices that were and are being made to give us the freedoms we have today. I will not support the NFL until anyone that has protested our flag is no longer associated with the NFL!

I truly believe it is all about the pocketbook….they are hypocritical…it is the money they believe in that causing them to rethink. I hope the boycott will last until the point of respecting this nation, its people (not a select few), our flag, our anthem, etc. is cemented in. Our America is not perfect but the good far out weighs the bad. Political correctness is an evil tool that has sadly been used by the Dems, haters, liberals much to long and have made too much inroads of hurting this beloved country that has blessed the whole world with so much with the giving of monies and lives and material goods. Also this tool has been used to exaggerate the truth with lies and words all over the internet and medias. The medias drip it as constant soaking rain on us. GOD HELP US!

For this coach to say they are not ;protesting the military is absolutely ridiculous. These protesters cannot ;do what they are doing without hurting our men and woman who are fighting in foreign lands under that flag. They have brought the game of football and any other game that these yahoos play in. What hypocrites they are. Fighting against our flag and our national anthem while wallowing in the money they make from just being able to play a game. We love and support our men and women in their service to our country, but we do not need these America haters.

No apology given to all the police, veterans and military members and their families who were disrespected. And no apology to the rest of us. Just a lot of verbal garbage justifying the NFL’s disrespect of our National Anthem, our flag and our great country.

Well, ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS, Broncos. Sorry, but you already showed your TRUE colors…and it wasn’t ‘red, white and blue’!

And now you’re showing your most FAVORITE AND IMPORTANT color of all: the GREEN that you fear losing if we stay away…which is the ONLY reason for issuing this statement of yours!

[email protected], you must think we’re really stupid!

Kneeling is not a show of direspect! My only brother who was in college joined the Marines as a teenager and went to war in Vietnam he took over lead of a squad when the soldier who was appointed became so fearful that he was unable to continue. My brother stepped on an explosive mine and has a purple heart! I remember pledging to the flag in my classroom etc with my hand over my heart..but i interpret the words as .. “I pledge allegiance to the flag of the (United) States of America and to the (Republic) for which it stands (**One Nation**) (**Under GOD**) (**With Liberty and Justice**) for ALL! These members of this One Nation under GOD which includes my brother and all others who have served our country and given their lives should have and should still receive Liberty and Justice in their homeland as our fore fathers vowed in making this pledge to the flag!

Let me be honest. You may not think it’s unity but yet you protest the very fabrics of our great country. To little to late. You had the opportunity to show unity for the flag an chose not to damage is done. No more support. Spit on the flag I spit on you. People died for our flag and you use it to protest. Well sorry my feelings are hurt. I’m never supporting you or football again. I was raised on football. No more.

BULL! And it is a current NFL rule that players stand on the sidelines and support our national anthem, so they aren’t doing anything spectacular. Are they going to do the mini protest of linking arms? We used to be a nation of laws, now it appears to be a free-for-all on laws. The governor in the socialist republic of Oregon ignores most federal laws and favors illegals to hardworking legal taxpayers, so why do we expect overpaid, whiny babies who get paid too much to play a game to actually follow any rules. Respect our flag – respect the country that allows you to get paid millions to PLAY A GAME or get out! They are only making this statement because they are afraid the money will dry up! Still disgusted and boycotting the NFL!

I NEVER HEARD AN APOLOGY AT ALL!!! ONLY THAT THE PLAYERS STAND TOGETHER AND THEY ALL STOOD TOGETHER ON THIS AND IF THEY WASN’T WORRIED ABOUT THEIR PAYCHECKS, THEY WOULDN’T HAVE SAID ANYTHING AT ALL. THEY DISRESPECTED OUR GREAT COUNTRY BY TAKING THAT KNEE, AND THEY ARE STILL DISRESPECTING OUR GREAT COUNTRY BY THEIR STATEMENTS!!! THAT WAS NO APOLOGY!!! WHEN YOU APOLOGIZE FOR SOMETHING YOU DID, YOU SAY THAT YOU WERE SORRY FOR WHAT YOU DID OR SAID AND I DIDN’T HEAR ANYTHING LIKE THAT. THE ONLY THING THAT THE OWNERS AND THE SPOILED DISRESPECTING PLAYERS ARE WORRIED ABOUT IS THE MONEY AND EVEN IF YOU DID COME BACK WITH A REAL APOLOGY, WE COULDN’T BELIEVE IT. YOU KNOW THAT IF YOU HAD CARED SO MUCH ABOUT THE YOUTH THAT ARE GROWING UP IN LOWER INCOME NEIGHBORHOODS? IT SEEMS THAT YOU COULD HAVE CAME TOGETHER AND GONE BACK INTO THESE PLACES AND POOLED YOUR MONEY TOGETHER AND REALLY MADE A DIFFERENCE IN THIS COUNTRY AND IN THESE BOYS AND GIRLS LIVES. SO NO I WILL NOT BE WATCHING THE NFL ON VETERANS DAY WEEKEND AND NOT ANYMORE TILL THE NFL REALIZE THAT YOU DON’T DISRESPECT THE COUNTRY THAT GIVES YOU ALL THE RIGHTS YOU HAVE AND YOU SPIT ON IT AND THE MEN AND WOMEN THAT SERVE IN THE ARMED FORCES THAT PROTECTS YOU AND HAVE DIED DOING SO. THANK YOU

You just made a GREAT point, Randall! You are exactly right…this is no apology at all! They are just backpedaling. This protest last week league-wide was strictly a “political” protest because they all got butt-hurt from the President calling them out for being SOBs!

  25. Hollywood

    September 29, 2017 at 4:17 pm

I agree with some of the thoughts already shared. The new policy is a step in the right direction, BUT the players need to apologize to military families and the nation for lack of respect for our nation. Funny how there was no mention of the penalty if a player does not comply with this new rule. I doubt there is a penalty. Most companies don’t allow political talk in the workplace. It can cause tension and keep people focused on getting the job done. The NFL somehow forgot this fact and even bent their own rulebook which states every player must stand during the national anthem. They are now trying to put out the blazing fire, but with the unreal amount of crimes the players are doing (this year is on pace to set records for rape, domestic abuse, drug use, DUI) the players are fueling the fire. They make so much money and fines are fairly cheap, so they don’t fear their own actions.

FIRE Tomlin!! who the F&%k is he to tell a team to sit out the national anthem and if you don’t your not a team player???? apology or not the steeler player who stepped up , is by far a more noble man that the guys who sat it out , I’m surprised no more players have the nerve to step up and stand up when they know its the right thing to do. if you want to discuss or protest do on at your own time

I AGREE WITH EVERYBODY ABOVE. THIS STARTED OUT AS A WAY TO CLAIM MORE OR LESS POLICE BRUTALITY AND ESCULATED INTO TOTAL DISRESPECT FOR OUR FLAG, COUNTRY , POLICE OFFICERS AND MILITARY PERSONEL. THIS HAS GOT TO STOP AND ALL NEED TO SHOW THE REST OF THE WORLD THAT THIS COUNTRY IS RESPECTED AND SUPPORTED BY ALL AMERICANS AND IF YOU CAN’T DO THAT I SUGGEST YOU FIND ANOTHER COUNTRY THAT WANTS DISRESPECTFUL PERSONS AND MOVE THERE. I MIGHT ALSO ADD THAT WE ARE ALL HUMAN AND EVERY NATIONALITY HAS GOOD AND BAD IN IT AND THE SAME GOES FOR PEOPLE AND THEIR JOBS AND IT IS UP TO “US” TO SEE TO IT THAT THE BAD ARE CORRECTED AND THE GOOD WILL BE THE ONLY ACCEPTABLE WAY OF LIVING. NO MORE HATE, DISRESPECT, LOOTING, RIOTING, STEALING, DESTROYING BUSINESSES AND AS FAR AS I’M CONCERNED NO MORE OVER PAID ATHLETES OR OWNERS. THIS WORL HAS LOTS OF YOUNG PEOPLE THAT NEED TO BE STEERED IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION AND IT IS THOSE OF YOU “BIG MONEY” PEOPLE THAT NEED TO BE OUT THERE HELPING THOSE IN NEED !

  36. Charlie

Your team and your organization was a disgrace. You thought based an polls and CNN that’s what was right. You already disgraced our flag, military, and football for that matter. Now you see the damage and worry about your wallet! Every single player? Disgusting! Football games were a place where all colors and races got together to enjoy the sport! You ruined that! Look at all the negative the nfl has allowed to the game. I knew you were garbage after what you did to Tebow. Football wasn’t a platform then!
Since everyone cared so much to protest, not even knowing what you protest, because kapernik said one thing when this started and your players so many diff things, what have you done outside of being disrespectful during the National Anthem? Nothing! I haven’t seen any owner coach or player do anything.

This is almost the exact same statement the jaguars released. They were given a blanket statement to release to try and salvage their teams before they lose so much money that they have to ask us for money. Screw them all. Let them lose so much money that the owners have to go in their pockets to pay the players. Then we will see who is allowed to KNEEL.
