Catch of the Day! Dad Goes Bare-Handed Fishing in His Flooded Living Room After Hurricane Harvey

The moment a father shrugged off his worries and went bare-handed fishing in his flooded living room has been caught on video.

Viviana Saldaña filmed her father’s fish-chasing hijinks in their Houston home on Saturday, after the house had taken on over a foot of water as the remains of Harvey inundated the area.

With a large fish already mounted on his wall, the laughing dad can been seen lunging repeatedly into the water and grabbing for the fish as his family looks on.

Finally, he’s successful and pulls the fish out of the water by its tail, beaming before flinging it toward his daughter as she shrieks.

‘Why go out looking for food when the food comes to our living room?’ Viviana wrote jokingly in a tweet about her dad’s antics.

The family is no stranger to fish tales. Viviana made it clear by posting several pictures of her and her dad open water fishing in the Gulf of Mexico.

‘My dad wants y’all to recognize his fishing skills,’ Viviana wrote laughingly.

Meanwhile, serious flooding in the Houston metro area hasn’t been such a laughing matter for most, with over 1,000 boat rescue missions being carried out over the course of Saturday night.

At least five are feared dead in the catastrophic flooding, and as much as 50 inches of rain are expected in some areas before the storm passes.

Emergency dispatchers have been overwhelmed by calls for assistance, and officials have put out a call for anyone in the area who owns a boat to join in the rescue efforts.
