Herschel Walker, an NFL legend who formerly played for Minnesota Vikings and Dallas Cowboys, believes that the situation with kneeling and disrespect of the national anthem has gone too far.
Walker in a viral video, as TMZ reported, supported President Trump and attacked all the NFL players who disrespect the national anthem and flag, but also Roger Goodell, the NFL Commissioner, who kept quiet about the protests.
“I think it means making a league-wide rule that if you want to protest, protest off the job,” Walker stated. “Where was everyone before the season started? I didn’t see anyone protesting in front of the White House, protesting in front of Congress or protesting in front of police officers. Why did we wait until football season to start this again? If you’re behind it, you have to be behind it all the way.”
“If you want to protest, protest off the job,” he said.
Walker admitted that he believes that America has a problem with racism, but protest the national anthem doesn’t solve that issue. In fact, he thinks that the finger should be pointed at President Trump.
“We can’t just point the finger at one person, and most of all you can’t point it at the president,” Walker advised.
He also advised Roger Goodell, the NFL Commissioner, to do something and put an end to the protests of the national anthem.
“I think everyone needs to stand, everyone, needs to be respectful,” Walker stated. “The commissioner now needs to take control of this.”
It doesn’t matter that President Trump and Walker are friends. Walker played for New Jersey Generals in the USFL, a club that was owned by President back in 1980. This team against NFL in a spring football league.
Anyhow, his comments didn’t go unnoticed. The only thing this protest might change is probably the TV channel, as the audience will turn off the TV if the NFL is on it. NFL has various ways to show their disagreements and protest in a manner that doesn’t involve dishonor of national anthem and flag.
Obviously, a lot of people didn’t learn this lesson.
