Tough times for Barack Obama.
The reality that a Republican dominated White House, Congress, and Supreme Court will wipe away much of his presidential legacy was not all the bad news the former president received last night.
The plane he was flying in while attempting to land at Palm Springs International airport – SAM 28000 (Special Air Mission) – was unable to land and was diverted to March Air Force base, 44 miles from his preferred destination.
The flight course change was made necessary due to very poor visibility from low clouds and heavy rain.
On the PSI airport tarmac were over a dozen SUVs and minivans along with vehicles of the Palm Springs Police Department, waiting in vain for the arrival of the Obamas.
The Obama motorcade then drove off to March Air Force base in Riverside, California, to pick the former first family.
The inability to land in Palm Springs doubtlessly disappointed the many Obama fans, many holding signs of support, who had gathered there to view the Obamas as they travelled off into private life.
The Obamas flight departed from Andrews Air Force Base not long after the Obamas attended President Trump’s inauguration ceremony. The new President and First Lady, along with the Vice President and his wife, saw them off.
Mr. Obama posted a tweet on his @BarackObama Twitter account: “Hi everybody! Back to the original handle. Is this thing still on? Michelle and I are off on a quick vacation, then we’ll get back to work.”
Tweets emanating from the official @POTUS account will now be posted from President Donald J. Trump!
