Oh, Jimmy. What have you done? We see you on television all the time, but you were never had bad things to say about our President-elect, until last night, that is.
Jimmy Fallon, whose regular job is to host the Tonight Show, went to a bad place last night as he consistently lambasted President-elect Donald Trump during his opening monologue of the Golden Globe awards. Fallon was relentless as he compared Trump to the evil King Joffrey from the television show Game of Thrones. He also poked fun at Trump’s perceived difficulty finding performers for his inauguration, and said that the Golden Globes, unlike the U.S. electoral system, still valued the popular vote.
This sort of “Trump bashing” hadn’t been Jimmy’s normal style. In fact, last year when Trump was on Jimmy’s Tonight Show, Fallon asked (and received permission) to tussle Trump’s famous hair. So, what happened? Before they behaved like buddies, and now Jimmy has turned his back on someone who has done nothing to him.
Seems like Jimmy caved into liberal Hollywood.
Jimmy’s harsh words did not go unanswered, however. Trump supporters immediately took to their Twitter accounts to let Jimmy know just how they felt about his betrayal.

To add insult to injury, other stars used their time in the limelight to go on the attack.
During his acceptance speech for an award, actor Hugh Laurie weakly joked, “I suppose it’s made more amazing by the fact that I’ll be able to say I won this at the last ever Golden Globes. I don’t mean to be gloomy, it’s just that it has the words Hollywood, foreign and press in the title. I just don’t know.… I also think, to some Republicans, even the word association is slightly sketchy.”
Then, of course, Meryl Streep had to chime in with this jab, directed at Trump, “And this instinct to humiliate when it’s modeled by someone in the public platform, by someone powerful, it filters down into everybody’s life because it kind of gives permission for other people to do the same thing. Disrespect invites disrespect. Violence incites violence. And when the powerful use their position to bully others, we all lose.”
So, if what Meryl said is true, then wasn’t she, and all of the anti-Trump speakers at the Golden Globes, behaving in a very hypocritical fashion? Let us know what you think, below.
