The Australian woman, identified as 40-year old Justine Damond, was shot and killed by Police Officer Mohamed Noor while he was sitting in the passenger seat of his patrol vehicle. Noor and his partner were responding to Damond’s 911 call regarding a possible sexual assault occurring near her home in Minneapolis.
The incident raises serious concerns over how Noor’s weapon was discharged, and why both he and his partner’s body-cams and dashboard cameras were disabled during the shooting.
Don Damond, the Australian’s fiancé, is demanding answers over how his wife was shot and killed by police outside their home.
“We are desperate for information,” Don told reporters outside his home. “Piecing together Justine’s last moments before the homicide would be a small comfort as we grieve this tragedy.”
A local reporter posted an image of a make-shift tribute to Damond, with people scribbling remembrances of the woman in chalk where the fatal shooting took place.
