Look What’s Happened to Alejandro Villanueva Jersey Sales After He Stood Alone for National Anthem

Alejandro Villanueva, the lone football player on the Pittsburgh Steelers who stood during the national anthem Sunday while the rest of his team remained in the locker room, has become more popular than ever as sales of his jersey have skyrocketed.

Sales of the former Army Ranger’s jersey on Fanatics.com shot up to the highest-seller among Pittsburgh Steelers jersey as of just 10 PM Eastern time.

Additionally, Villanueva’s jersey sales rocketed into the top sellers in the entire league as of 7:45 PM EST behind only Marshawn Lynch, Derek Carr, Carson Wentz, Brown, and Aaron Rodgers, 247 Sports reported.

Villanueva, who played football at West Point Military Academy, later went on to become an Army Ranger and served three tours in Afghanistan. He also was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for Valor. Prior to playing for the Steelers, he played for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2014.

Despite Steelers’s coach Mike Tomlin wanting all of his players to remain in the locker room, Villanueva did otherwise.

I Also Thank Him! I Thank Him For Protecting our Country With 3 Tours In Afghanistan! I Commend him On Receiving The Bronze Star (no Easy Task)! And I Then Salute Him For Going Out And Standing For The Flag & National Anthem, Hand Over Heart! Kids Seeing This Will Perhaps Get Off Their Knee’s Copying Certain Players And Realize That There Are Players Out There That Are Not Afraid To Show What A Real Man Does! God Bless You Son!! I Was Never Prouder Seeing You Do This Against Orders! This Is What America Is All About! Not Rioting In The Streets, Just A Simple, Quiet Gesture That Has Been Posted Over & Over Again!

I’m proud of Alejandro. Unfortunately, jersey sales will profit the supporters of the knee.

But those purchases also send a message to the other players. The Quarterbacks and running backs are used to receiving all the attention. Being upstaged by an offensive lineman will get their attention.

This proves that fans do not like all this “kneeling”, and the owners, players, and coaches should “take note”

I commend the VT Coach for doing this. And, for the Armed Service Members that were there for it. I really hope these athletes take this to heart. Because without these service members they would not be able to play just a game. Respect our Flag and Country athletes. It’s because of the people that fight for our freedom you have the rights you do. Amen!

This man should be singled out as the “lone Ranger” as he was the “LONE” RANGER that stood for America and not Cuba, Russia, Venezuela, N. Korea. If the players feel such mistreatment is in America, LEAVE and play for any socialist hero they like. And I do mean SOCIALIST.

The Coach needs to sit down and shut up. People are tired of entertainers pushing political agendas. Entertainers should stick to entertaining, people watch football games to be entertained not to get a political message.

You know , he shouldn’t be held up as a hero because he stood for the flag. However, considering all the followers of this unpatriotic liberal behavior of disrespecting the flag, the anthem and ultimately the veterans who died, who live injured , who are still leaving a “normal” life everyday to protect and serve his/her nation, this gentleman not only being a veteran Ranger in the military, had the decency to do the right thing and not follow along as SHEEP who really have no convictions at all.

Alejandro Villanueva You are a true Hero and we are very proud of you! Being a former Steeler fan, I couldn’t believe what their players did prior to Sunday’s game. If they want to protest anything, they should do it on their own time, not during the Games. God help us!!!

I’m with you John. It gave me great pleasure to see that attendance was down for the pro games this week. It will. continue to go down. I will not watch any NFL game nor attend a game. As attendense continues to go down I guess we might see some changed attitudes by owners and coaches. Hopefully Goodell will be fired! Spineless bastard!
