Mexican drug cartels have created an array of weapons to fight strengthened border patrols in order to get drug into U.S. from Arizona border. Authorities recently discovered such weapon in the town of Agua Prieta, right across the border.
The Mexican authorities during a recent search found an enormous bazooka which was used to shoot bundles of drugs across the border into Arizona.
The bazooka was made more powerful by technology to use a compressor so it can shoot the packages high over the fence.
Mexican officials also found and took 1,800 pounds marijuana in the home, and 1,900 rounds of ammunition.
Border Patrol agents and Arizona officers captured cylindrical packages of marijuana this past year.
August, the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents saw a 100-pound package of marijuana land in Douglas. CBP spokesperson Rob Daniels said the bundle worth was approximately $48,000.
July, 14—pound package was captured after one citizen called the Douglas police to inform them that packages are being launched over the 18-foot fence. The border wall suggested by President Trump will be at least 30 to 40 feet high.
Last year in Sonora officials also sized a “homemade bazooka” that was 10 feet long.
February, Paul Beeson, who is in charge of a combined task force to protect the southern border, told Congress that Mexican gangs “previously threw, by hand, small loads of drugs over the border fence, they now utilize compressed air cannons to launch bundles of illicit narcotics in excess of 100 pounds over the border fence.”
Beeson claimed that these operations are “indicative of the ever-evolving and persistent intent of (gangs) to exploit the border environment.”
Even President Trump pointed out that the flying drugs can be deadly.
“As horrible as it sounds, when they throw the large sacks of drugs over, and if you have people on the other side of the wall, you don’t see them — they hit you on the head with 60 pounds of stuff? It’s over,” Trump stated July.
October President Trump stated that the wall he proposed will change the fight against illegal drugs.
“We must stop the flow of all types of illegal drugs into our communities,” he said during a White House ceremony. “For too long, dangerous criminal cartels have been allowed to infiltrate and spread throughout our nation.”
“An astonishing 90 percent of the heroin in America comes from south of the border, where we will be building a wall, which will greatly help in this problem. It will have a great impact. My administration is dedicated to enforcing our immigration laws, defending our maritime security, and securing our borders.”
