On Friday, North Korea launched a ballistic missile that can reach Guam, a U.S. territory.
The ballistic missile was launched over Japanese island of Hokkaidoa, and Kim Jong Un, the North Korean leader called it a “shining victory in the standoff with the United States,” stating that the U.S. is in “mortal fear” of North Korea.
Two ballistic missiles which were launched from North Korea flew over Japan. The first one was shot after U.N. declared sanctions over Kim Jong Un’s regime.
Moon Jae-in, the South Korean leader warned North Korea that additional acts of aggression can result in “complete destruction,” of North Korea.
“In case North Korea undertakes provocations against us or our ally, we have the power to destroy (the North) beyond recovery,” Moon Jae-in stated.
During the meeting with the National Security Council, briefly, after the ballistic missile was launched, Moon Jae-in stated that North Korea broke the U.N. Security Council resolutions, ones again.
He stated that the second missile “poses a grave challenge to the peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula and the global community.”
“I sternly condemn and express anger at this series of provocations by the North,” he stated.
The launched missile, as South Korea reported is an intercontinental missile which traveled approximately 2,300 miles.
As Guam is 2,100 miles from North Korea, it’s clear that Kin Jong Un can reach U.S territory.
As Japan’s Minister of Defense Itsunori Onodera stated, North Korean’s missile launch indicates that Kim Jong Un has Guam on his mind.
“We cannot assume North Korea’s intention, but given what it has said, I think it has Guam in mind,” Onodera stated.
Right after North Korea launched the missile South Korea conducted a “live fire drill”, as CNN reported.
South Korea also conducted a missile test, which according to South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff can reach the Sunan airport near Pyongyang.
North Korea tested a hydrogen bomb on 3 September, as their 6 nuclear test which caused a magnitude 6.3 tremor. This is the most powerful weapon that North Korea has ever tested.
