Restaurant Owner Who Booted Sarah Sanders Basks in Publicity, Issues Statement

Donald Trump and members of his administration have formed a kind of cottage industry for angry liberals. Think of it as a make-work program for people whose 15 minutes of fame would ordinarily be confined to winning tofu-eating contests at the Vermont State Fair.

There’s a long list of liberals who have taken advantage of the program. Linda Sarsour. Nina Mariah Donovan. Shaun King. And then there are those who have used it to re-up their 15 minutes of fame, like Peter Fonda or Tom Arnold.

To this long list, we can add Stephanie Wilkinson, the owner of the Red Hen restaurant in Lexington, Virginia. That’s the place that booted Sarah Sanders off of its premises because she is a member of the Trump administration

In fact, just one day after the White House press secretary got the boot, Wilkinson was already giving an interview to The Washington Post.

In her statement, Wilkinson said she found the Trump administration “inhumane and unethical,” which is why she gave Sanders the heave-ho.

“This feels like the moment in our democracy when people have to make uncomfortable actions and decisions to uphold their morals,” Wilkinson said.

You know, like the very uncomfortable decision to self-promote her restaurant as the official pit stop of #TheResistance.

As for the confrontation with Sanders, Wilkinson said, “I was babbling a little, but I got my point across in a polite and direct fashion. I explained that the restaurant has certain standards that I feel it has to uphold, such as honesty, and compassion, and cooperation.

“I said, ‘I’d like to ask you to leave.’”

So, would she do it again? (Did Ted Kennedy like an occasional tipple?)

“Absolutely, yes, I would have done the same thing again… We just felt there are moments in time when people need to live their convictions. This appeared to be one,” Wilkinson said.

“(W)hatever happens, we will soldier on,” she added, no doubt with a symphony of nanoscopic violins playing in the background.

Give me a break.

It’s not an act of valor to kick people out of your establishment because you disagree with their political views. In addition, the article makes clear the staff also disagreed with Sanders’ religious views on gay issues, which is a different kettle of red hen entirely.

Either way, there’s absolutely nothing in this sordid tale that has even a soupçon of living one’s convictions. This has everything to do with pettiness, virtue-signaling and intolerance.

Yes, of course Wilkinson would do this again. This is giving her the kind of undeserved attention every liberal seems to dream of thanks to this administration.

And, of course, if and when things go south for her — as they likely will once the support from fellow #Resistance members dries up and long conservative memories cast a shadow over her bottom line — maybe she’ll make a Kathy Griffin-esque video in which she cries about how much this has cost her.

I don’t actually wish that upon her, inasmuch as financial ruin seems a bit steep of a penalty for being an attention-seeking git.

However, given the relative likelihood of this ending, I’d start looking into other opportunities if I were Ms. Wilkinson.

Maybe crocheting pink hats with ears? Seems right up her alley.

I THINK OWNERS WHO DO WHAT SHE DID, SHOULD LOSE THERE ASS. BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR.
WHO A PERSON VOTES FOR SHOULD NOT BE HELD AGAINT THEM WHEN IT COMES TO GOING OUT TO DINNER.
YOU SHOULD HAVE DONE IT QUIETLY WHEN SHE FIRST CAME IN, NOT AFTER THEY ORDERED.
IF I LIVE IN YOUR AREA I WOULD NOT GO TO YOUR PLACE. AND I WAS IN THE BUSINESS FOR 60 YOURS.
REMEMBER WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND.

      I agree!

She, and the red chicken should go down in financial, and perhaps actual flames.

Her personal fortune financial needs to dissolve to nil, and quality of life needs to end up on the streets of L.A. where all of the other failures in life mingle

This low life is beneath contempt, a creaton of the first order, and a quintessential ass hole!

Her conduct is typical NAZI emulation for which she instead of her chickens should be placed in a very hot oven set at “broil”!

To her I say-GO STRAIGHT TO HELL WITH ALL OF THE OTHER ANARCHISTS WHO ARE BETRAYING OUR COUNTRY!

      MAGA!!!!

There are so many restaurants out there owned and runned by professional and mature people. If owner wants to be known as a bigot, immature unprofessional business owner, that’s her business. One I would never support.

Wilkinson’s pretense of living by her convictions is disgusting. Her humiliation of Sanders is a form of abuse that dwells outside the realm of ethics, morals, and a good conscience. She merely reinstated Jim Crow laws based on political beliefs rather than race, and yet exalts herself as being morally superior to Sarah. PEEYU! In so doing, Wilkinson wars against the Golden Rule, human decency, and the American ideals of equal rights, equal access, equal protections….

Why don’t they all have the guts to just list their businesses as off limits to Trump supporters, to save us and themselves the aggravation? Could it be that they so value their posturing and 15 minutes of fame?

Why is that liberals and leftists believe that they can easily virtue-signal that they have a monopoly on “honesty, compassion and cooperation” while they simultaneously act like bigots, kicking people out of their restaurant?? The only conviction that Ms. Wilkinson was conveying was that of bigotry and intolerance. That’s the way to make a point!?

It’s terrorism. Yes, you have the right to exclude people from your place of business, but don’t tell me this was not a set up. Sarah Sanders had probably eaten their before. People are focused on rights, and yes they are important, but so is tact.

Maxine Waters is urging terrorism. How about separating ones political views from the person? The mass hysteria that Waters is advocating is very reminiscent of Hitler, and the intolerance that led to WWII.

The strategy of isolating those you don’t like, and denying their ability to engage in civil discourse does not bode well for our country.

Under the circumstances, why not simply post on the door a sign that says “No Republicans Allowed,” or “Only Democrats are welcome here.”
Seems that would avoid any embarrassment or misunderstanding….

Heavens if this had happened under Obama to a Democrat they would be in jail. A mild form of
    terrorism.

With all the lies Sanders has been telling the US being booted out a resturants isn’t have a bad as the lies. the man who threw the chicken ____ is a coward because you didn’t like it you could have done better you aren’t any better than the two liar you support. She didn’t do anything wrong that was her right, but Sander is now lying to get the secret service to protection for her and her family is another way of wasting our money not one person is after her it her guilt for lying that play heavy on her mind. I not upset nor am I proud of what the man did, but the owner that was your right. With all the jealousy about Obama he must be a hell of a great guy, cause he cared about person regardless of race, but trump it all about wasting and spending his supporter and the taxpayers dollars and giving them nothing. Now when the need money or housing what will trump do for them then, In trump resturants their were found to be thirtheen violations, in his hotels their were found to be bedbugs now are you going to threw chicken —- at him?
