The former United States National Security Advisor, Susan Rice, is caught up in a political fight over surveillance again. She has refused to testify before Congress regarding the investigation of Russian interference into the 2016 U.S. election.
“There are other ways to invite people other than via a letter,” Gowdy said. Before adding the 5 words that made Susan Rice shake with fear, “There are things called subpoenas.”
Representative Trey Gowdy (R., S.C.) was interviewed on Fox News by Bill Hemmer and stated that Congress may subpoena Rice to testify about the unmasking.
He also said Congress and lawyers don’t choose the people to testify, the facts of the case do. Rice is a very important fact witness and will appear, willingly or not.
Senator Lindsey Graham announced on Tuesday that he wanted Rice, whom many Republicans have long despised, to appear before the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Terrorism. By declining the invitation she definitely looks like she’s hiding something.
The far-reaching justification she gave for “declining the invitation” was that the chairman and ranking member of the committee had not signed it. Even Democratic Senators aren’t buying that excuse. Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein stated that she had never heard of such a thing. Feinstein also said that Rice had appeared on many news program to speak on the subject and has urged her to reconsider not testifying.
