While the White House noticeably made staff members scarce for this morning’s news shows following last week’s bombshell announcement of FBI Director James Comey’s firing, ABC was able to nab US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley today. And even though she is in more of a diplomatic role, This Week host George Stephanopoulos still pressed her on the big news story.
In the ambassador’s opinion, President Donald Trump was well within his rights to can the FBI chief because he is basically the boss of the country.
“The president is the CEO of the country,” she stated. “He can hire and fire whoever he wants. That’s his right.”
She went on to note that while people may disagree with his decision, Trump is really just trying to “find the right team.”
When pushed on the timing of the termination, especially considering that the FBI is currently investigating potential ties between Russia and Trump’s campaign, Haley merely noted that Trump is a “president of action.”
