After House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) gave a somewhat awkward address on Tuesday, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) seemed to voice what a lot of people were thinking while watching it.
As IJR Red previously noted, Pelosi and Schumer received a wave of mockery after they attempted to rebut the president’s speech pressing for a wall at the southern border.

Perhaps one of the funniest descriptions came from Cruz, who, during a Daily Caller video, suggested that the Democratic leaders looked like hostages to the more extreme wing of their party.
“I am virtually certain that Nancy is blinking S.O.S. as Chuck Schumer is talking,” Cruz said. “They’re hostage to the extreme, the radicals, to the crazies in their party, and they’re not listening to the American people.”
He described their response video as “one of the most frightening things I’ve ever seen.”
Watch his comments below:
Pelosi and Schumer have been adamant about opposing funding for a border wall, with the former going so far as to call it “immoral.” The government, as a result, entered a partial government shutdown, which President Donald Trump said was the fault of Democrats who politicized an apparently obvious solution for border security.
Later in the video, Cruz asserted that Pelosi and Schumer were “held captive” to the Democrats who were “filled with rage” and “anger” toward the president.
Cruz added that Pelosi and Schumer didn’t have a “substantive” case for opposing the border wall since Democrats previously voted for wall funding.
“Their problem is political,” he said.
