During a Wednesday appearance on Sean Hannity’s show, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) was extremely optimistic of Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court confirmation hearing.
Cruz claimed that the Democrats “have not laid a single glove on Brett Kavanaugh” during the hearings even after pointed questioning and continued disruptions:
“I think yesterday and today were both really good days; they were good days for the country, they were good days for Brett Kavanaugh. In two days of hearings on the Judiciary Committee, the Democrats have not laid a single glove on Brett Kavanaugh. There’s been a lot of screaming, there’s been a lot of protesting, there’s been a lot of anger, and it’s really the reflection of the incredible rage and fury we’re seeing on the far left. And you’re right — by all appearances, these protests are closely coordinated with the Democratic senators.”
Democratic senators reportedly planned the disruptions over a conference call before the hearing started. However, Cruz stated that the protestors and the Democratic senators’ disapproval of Kavanaugh will not have an effect on the confirmation.

“But at the end of the day, the rage, the anger they’re having, they haven’t been able to give even a single argument that is going to derail this nomination,” Cruz said. “No Democrat has disputed that Brett Kavanaugh is qualified to serve on the Supreme Court, and they’re just really expressing the rage of the far left to Donald Trump.”
The confirmation hearings will continue to take place, with a committee vote scheduled for September 20 followed by a vote on the Senate floor during the last week of the month.
