WATCH: See How Fast This Hero Security Guard Shoots Bank Robber Dead

Talk about going above and beyond! This man just made everyone who works in security proud.

An armed bank robber strode into a Rockford, Illinois bank, thinking he was about to make some easy money. Boy, was he wrong! Brian Harrison, the security guard on duty at Alpine Bank, didn’t hesitate to draw his gun and shoot the would-be criminal literally dead in his tracks, via BizPac Review.

Thanks to Harrison’s actions and quick thinking, none of the three employees on duty at the time were harmed. He’s a legitimate hero — he put himself in the line of fire in order to protect the innocents around him.

The criminal, Laurence Turner, was a 34-year-old drug user, and he was found with opiates and other illegal substances in his system upon inspection of his body. Turner, shot dead by Harrison, won’t be making any more attempts at bank-robbing.

Harrison, the hero of the day, was investigated but found guilty of no charges. It was deemed that his actions were in self-defense.

As for Alpine Bank, they were quick to acknowledge their security guard’s actions, releasing a letter that stated, “While facing extraordinary circumstances, you acted with courage and quickness to protect our family. You are a hero to each and every one of us,” via

Harrison was reportedly “relieved” to not have to face any charges for killing Turner. Now that the heat of the moment is over though, we hope he’s getting to enjoy the appreciation for his heroic actions!

As a former police deputy, Harrison no doubt made the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department proud before he retired. In his position as a security guard, he continues to protect citizens the best way he knows how — with quick reflexes and endless courage.

For any security officer who’s been teased for not being a “real” police officer, this is a triumph. Harrison proved that everyone working to protect our freedom and our safety should be respected as a force to be reckoned with, no matter their job title.

Harrison might be the one in the news right now, but he’s just one of many security officers who have put their life on the line to save others. Security officers across our country are working to keep us safe each and every day.

The next time you’re at the bank, tip your hat to the security guard on duty and thank him or her for keeping you safe. And if you see some millennial brat giving them flak, feel free to stand up and tell that ungrateful whelp to show some respect!

Looks like he got him with the first 2 shots. Then went outside and finding the robber spread out face down, emptied his clip into the body to be sure he stayed down

Jim — what does BLM have to do with it? The perpetrator was white. I don’t agree with most of the BLM movement, but the fact that people assume someone is black just because they tried to rob a bank is not a good sign.

I totally agree that Mr. Brian Harrison did the right thing. He truly is a hero!
However, I completely disagree with the despicable air of triumphant gloating and excitement over Laurence Turner’s death. Yes, Turner shot back and did not even try to give himself up. I’m NOT saying “the guard should not have killed the robber;” again, I wholeheartedly agree that the guard did the right thing.
The attitude of this article and some of the comments are troublesome. They seem to be celebrating the death of the criminal almost more than they are celebrating the guard’s commitment to protect the bank.

Also, why the jab at millennials at the end of the article? I have had a bigger problem with people closer to my age being rude than millennials. I barely see millennials at the bank anyway, they probably prefer to do it all online.

I myself am pretty conservative, but this whole article reeks of narrow-mindedness.

Inside job. The teller was watching out the window and was down behind the counter as the 1st door outside was opened.

Looks like we’re at a level of violence now, that the true Americans will show what the “home of the brave” really means. Brave people have the wisdom to know when to draw the line.
