The mainstream media is trying to make it look as if Donald Trump is crazy for claiming that Barack Obama wiretapped his phones at Trump Tower. However, it now appears that Trump was right about this claim.
Breitbart reported that multiple ex-Obama officials have suggested that his administration actually did wiretap Trump’s phones. Though former President Obama’s spokesman Kevin Lewis denied that he had tapped Trump’s phone, he added that such an order would have come from the Justice Department.
“A cardinal rule of the Obama Administration was that no White House official ever interfered with any independent investigation led by the Department of Justice,” Lewis said. “As part of that practice, neither President Obama nor any White House official ever ordered surveillance on any U.S. citizen. Any suggestion otherwise is simply false.”
The Obama statement does not say there was no federal wire tapping of Trump Tower. It only says Obama and White House didn’t order it.

Valerie Jarrett later tweeted out the same statement. Notice that they never denied that the phones at Trump Tower were tapped, and that they instead just say the order never came from Obama.

Other Obama officials have not denied the existence of such a wire tap. Obama’s former speechwriter Jon Favreau warned reporters against denying Trump’s phones were tapped.
I’d be careful about reporting that Obama said there was no wiretapping. Statement just said that neither he nor the WH ordered it.
