BREAKING: House Passes One of Trump’s First Plans – IT HAS STARTED!

Donald Trump just put to rest one issue that has been a long, long fight for those of us on the right!

The Hyde Amendment, which bans federal funding, including Medicaid funding, of abortion, previously had to be reapproved every year. The bill just introduced to the House, the “No Taxpayer Funding of Abortion Act,” makes the Hyde Amendment permanent.

The House just passed the provision by a vote of 233 to 183 after some rigorous debate.

Under this new bill, while Obamacare is still in effect (which won’t be long), it cannot be used to fund an abortion! Some Democrat representatives have spoken out against the Obamacare provision of the bill, arguing that Obamacare does not provide funding for abortions.

It does. Representative Chris Smith (R-NJ), who introduced the bill, brought up figures from the Government Accountability Office to prove it. In 2014 alone, 1,036 of sold Obamacare plans offered on-demand abortions.

It is also estimated that the Hyde Amendment has previously saved the lives of two million babies. Making it permanent instead of allowing the Democrats to kill it every time they are in power will surely save even more.

Republican representatives in favor of the “No Taxpayer Funding of Abortion Act” argued that making the Hyde Act permanent will also allow for transparency in the sale of healthcare plans. It’s important for people to know what procedures their plan covers, and the uncertain fate of abortion procedures makes that difficult.

Representative Smith added that, as the law stood before, “We treat them as tumors, warts to be exorcised.” Other representatives had further emotional appeals to the sanctity of life and the rights of the unborn child.

A Democrat representative made a particularly odd appeal, arguing that Trump’s previous enactment of the Mexico City Policy “denies life-saving healthcare to women around the world.” I prefer to think it denies life-ending healthcare to infant women (and their male brothers, who are no less important) around the world!

One of my new favorite representatives, Liz Cheney (R-WY), called out the Democrat representatives who were using their attendance at the Women’s March as some kind of signal that they speak for all women.

Cheney pointed out that the Women’s March purposefully excluded pro-life women who wished to take part. It also worth noting that, as per a Marist poll from January of this year, 61 percent of Americans don’t want to use their tax dollars to fund abortions.
