Throughout his presidential campaign, Donald Trump regularly promised to “make America great again” by bringing jobs back to the U.S. Barack Obama regularly mocked him for saying this, saying that this is an impossible feet that Trump couldn’t possibly follow through with.

Now, however, Obama is eating his words in a big way.

Daily Mail reported that the American technology powerhouse IBM has just announced that they will be bringing a whopping 25,000 jobs back to the U.S. over the next four years. They made this announcement just ahead of their meeting with Trump and other leaders in the tech industry.

In an oped for USA Today, IBM chief executive Ginni Rometty pledged that 6,000 of these jobs would be brought to the U.S. in 2017. She also pledged that IBM will invest $1 billion on employee training and development in the next four years.

“We are hiring because the nature of work is evolving — and that is also why so many of these jobs remain hard to fill,” Rometty said, pointing out that many industries have been completely reshaped by data science and cloud computing.

“Jobs are being created that demand new skills — which in turn requires new approaches to education, training and recruiting,” she added. “This is not about white collar vs. blue collar jobs, but about the ‘new collar’ jobs that employers in many industries demand, but which remain largely unfilled.”

Rometty is a member of Trump’s Strategic and Policy Forum, which is made up of US business leaders who are focused on bringing jobs back to this country and boosting our economy. She will be meeting with Trump later on Wednesday along with Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, Apple’s Tim Cook, Satya Nadella of Microsoft, Larry Page of Alphabet (Google) and Elon Musk of Tesla and SpaceX. In this meeting, Trump is expected to push these executives to create more jobs in America.

We’re glad to see that Trump is already following through with his campaign promises before he even takes office.
