President Donald Trump and his team at the White House are not willing to send spokespeople on CNN, and one of its reports say it is because of they want to bring down the network’s ratings.
One White House official confirmed the CNN boycott, but was less sharp about the reason: “We’re sending surrogates to places where we think it makes sense to promote our agenda.”
However, the White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer is still calling on CNN at his briefings and administration officials are responding to CNN’s questions, but the last person who appeared on the network was Jan. 11 when Kellyanne Conway was a guest on Anderson Cooper’s show. That is the very same day, Trump said to their reporter Jim Acosta they were fake news.
The whole scenario has its roots from the troubles with the head of CNN Jeff Zucker, as President Trump says he betrayed him personally. The quarrel between Trump and CNN recalls the relationship between Fox News and Obama.
The White House has never ice out the network, but for sure they were avoiding some interviews. However, Obama’s abusive comments against the network are far worse than Trump’s on CNN saying they are fake news.
