Former First Daughter Chelsea Clinton joined the fray on Wednesday after President Donald Trump started a firestorm by announcing transgender people will no longer be permitted to serve in the U.S. military.
Little did Chelsea know that she herself was about to be scorched, after claiming Trump has “consistently failed” to support equal rights for the LGBT community:
No. President Trump has consistently failed to support LGBT equal rights, dignity & safety in the U.S. & around world (e.g. Chechnya/Russia) https://t.co/nXY5uYjz4S

Twitter can often be informative. Sometimes it can deliver a history lesson. Other times, it can deliver a thorough smackdown. In this instance, it did all three.
First up for Chelsea, a history lesson from a Navy vet:
Trump was for gay marriage back when Daddy was signing DOMA an Mom insisted "it's a sacred bond between a man and woman." #SpinFail
— Vince Gottalotta (@VinceGottalotta) July 26, 2017
Vince was right on both counts. On Sept. 21, 1996, President Bill Clinton signed the Defense of Marriage Act, which, among other things, denied federal benefits to married same-sex couples.
Ryan delivered another history lesson:
Don't Ask Don't Tell was under your father's term.
Your mother and father both felt that marriage was between a man and a woman.
— Ryan B. Leslie (@RyanBLeslie) July 26, 2017
Right again. As reported by The Washington Post, Hillary Clinton ran for president in 2008 — in opposition to gay marriage.
Haines™ smacked Chelsea over “step-dad” (you’ll have to look that up if you’re so inclined) and mom’s expedient “evolving” position on gay marriage:

Next on the docket, a couple of reminders to Chelsea about some of the controversial contributions to the Clinton Foundation:
After your parents take billions from regimes that kill gays… you are pointing fingers at everyone else?? Hypocrite.
— Warner Todd Huston (@warnerthuston) July 26, 2017
How much money do you suppose your family has taken from countries who execute gay people? Rough estimate is fine.
— Velvet Froman (@TMIWITW) July 26, 2017
You got it, right again. As Fox News reported in June, the Clinton Foundation has raked in millions of dollars from countries that imprison gays, and worse. The reaction from Chelsea and her liberal pals? Cue the crickets.
Self-described conservative Gay Patriot weighed from the way-back machine:

And S. Rey just wanted to remind Chelsea who she is:
@washingtonpost you do know your a Clinton right?
— S. Reynolds (@kirtland20) July 26, 2017
Incidentally, as pointed out by The New York Times — hardly a conservative mouthpiece — Donald Trump, as owner of the exclusive Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, was the first club owner on the island to admit an openly gay couple.
Twitter. It’s always there. And it always pays attention to facts. Even when some don’t.
