Congress Just Dropped A BOMBSHELL On Sanctuary Campuses…Liberals Are Going INSANE!

American colleges used to be the envy of the world, places where great minds passed along knowledge and wisdom to the nation’s best and brightest young people.

Today, many of our universities have become glorified daycare centers, where students are brainwashed and revert to infants, to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars a year.

Speaking of money, though: For all their hot air about lofty, leftist ideals, colleges rely on cold hard capitalist cash to keep their doors open. This next story will have administrators, professors and students in a panic:

Representative Duncan Hunter (R-CA) introduced the No Funding for Sanctuary Campuses Act in late December to define “sanctuary campus” and create financial penalties for any “institutions of higher education that violates immigration laws.” The bill, H.R. 6530, was co-sponsored by Representatives Tom McClintock (R-CA) and Lou Barletta (R-PA).

“It’s by no means unreasonable to expect the nation’s higher learning institutions to follow the law the same way we expect states and localities to abide by the law,” Hunter told the Washington Examiner in an interview published on Tuesday. “If a school wants federal money, an open declaration that it’s a sanctuary should disqualify it for federal support.

“It’s free to do that, of course, but there should be a consequence in the form of withheld federal funding — it’s that simple,” the California congressman stated.

Indeed. One of the best lessons anyone can learn — better late than never — is that actions have consequences. For too long, students and professors (especially those with tenure) have spread their often dangerous “progressive” ideas without fear of any backlash.

Now, however, a perfect storm is looming that will change all that.

And apparently they’re proud to call themselves “Sanctuary Campuses.” Liz Wheeler has some brutal words for the snowflakes:

Along with legislation like this (and a Republican majority Congress to vote it in), many families with children are waking up to the fact that a college degree doesn’t convey the same benefits it once did.

Thanks to grade inflation and affirmative action, they know that that piece of paper called a degree doesn’t represent what it did a generation ago. All it confers in many cases is a lifetime of crushing debt.

Meanwhile, some of America’s greatest success stories are individuals without college degrees, including millions of well compensated skilled tradesmen, the very people who literally make the country run.

Combine this with a population fed up with political correctness and social engineering, and it is possible we will live to see the tyranny of the academy elites dialed down in our lifetimes. Finally!
