Fmr Secret Service Agent Responds to Cuomo’s MAGA Remarks: He Should ‘Resign’

Former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino called on New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo to resign after he said that the United States was “never that great.”

As IJR previously reported, Cuomo appeared to criticize President Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan during a speech earlier this week.

While appearing on “Fox & Friends” on Saturday, Bongino said Cuomo should try telling veterans and others that America was never great:

“America was never great? Tell that to my uncle, Greg Ambrose. You know, he came back from Vietnam — yeah, in a box. You know, he died over there for this country. […] Tell that to my mother-in-law, who thankfully is still alive but came into this country legally as a legal immigrant years ago — cleaning airplanes and bringing home airplane peanuts to feed her kids because they had no money — to live in the greatest country on Earth. Tell that to the boys of Pointe du Hoc who climbed those hills, shot down by Nazis on the beaches of Normandy — and my grandfather, who was on Utah Beach, fought in the Battle of the Bulge.”

Trump similarly blasted Cuomo on Twitter, calling his statement “really dumb”:

Bongino, who’s from New York, went on to say that Cuomo’s comments were “disgusting” and that the governor had no right to be in charge of his home state.

“Those are some of the worst comments I’ve ever heard from a politician’s mouth in my 43 years on this planet,” he said.

He also argued that Cuomo didn’t get any “takebacks” for his comments. Cuomo tried backpedaling on Friday, telling the press that he was “inartful” and actually thought America had always been great.

“Of course America is great and of course America has always been great. No one questions that,” he said.
