Conservative talk radio host Michael Savage says that while he is used to getting death threats, the severity of a recent threat sent to a restaurant he frequents compelled him to change locations and contact local, state and federal agencies. A suspect connected to the alarming threat, he says, has been identified.
In an email sent to the unnamed restaurant, the suspect threatened to open fire on everyone in the restaurant if it continues to allow the “racist white supremacist piece of sh**” radio host to eat there.” The threat included specific references to owning “3 guns.” Excerpts of the email were published by the Washington Times’ Cheryl Chumley:
I DEMAND THAT YOU REFUSE TO ALLOW MICHAEL SAVAGE … IN YOUR F-ING RESTAURANT AGAIN. HE IS A RACIST WHITE SUPREMACIST PIECE OF SH— … DONT WANT TO LISTEN TO ME? WELL I GUESS YOURE ALL GONNA F—ING DIE THEN CUZ I AM WAITING FOR THE MOTHAF— AND I WILL WAIT AND WATCH YOUR F—ING BUSINESS AND WHEN I SEE HIM GO IN THERE IM GOING TO START SHOOTING EVERY BODY I CAN FIND.
I OWN 3 GUNS AND I CAN DO SOME SERIOUS F—ING DAMAGE. I WILL KILL AS MANY OF YOU RACIST-SUPPORTING/ENABLING WHITE SUPREMACISTS AS I F—ING CAN.
The threat also made reference to Savage being Jewish, calling him an “f***ing crypto Jew”:
PEOPLE WILL F—ING DIE. IM GOING TO KILL THAT F—ING CRYPTO JEW BUT IF YOU DONT WANT YOUR WHOLE BUSINESS TO TURN INTO A F—IN SHOOTING GALLERY AND YOUR CUSTOMERS TO GET CAUGHT UP IN THIS YOU BETTER KEEP HIM OUTTA THERE OR ELSE … YOURE ALL GONNA F—IN DIE UNLESS YOU DO WHAT I F—IN SAY. ILL REALLY MAKE U F—IN FAMOUS.
Savage spoke to Chumley about the threat in a phone interview, stating that he’d “changed location” due to the threat and has gotten some “serious agencies” involved in finding the suspect.
“Over the years, I have received many threats and have chosen to ignore them,” he said. “However, given the violent, vile times we are living in and the specific nature of this threat, both I and some serious agencies are taking this threat very seriously.”
Savage told Chumley that authorities have a suspect “they’re looking at, as we speak.”
The threats to Savage follow a series of other threats against high-profile figures, particularly on the Right. One similarly alarming threat targeted Fox News host Tucker Carlson. A left-wing Antifa group went to his home when his wife was there and threatened his family in November.
“She had been in the kitchen alone getting ready to go to dinner and she heard pounding on the front door and screaming,” Carlson told The Washington Post. “Someone started throwing himself against the front door and actually cracked the front door.” Carlson’s wife locked herself in the pantry and called the police.
An Antifa group called Smash Racism DC posted videos of the ambush to Twitter and boasted of their threats against Carlson and his family. “‘Racist scumbag, leave town!’ Every night you spread fear into our homes—fear of the other, fear of us, and fear of them. Each night you tell us we are not safe. Tonight you’re reminded that we have a voice. Tonight, we remind you that you are not safe either,” read one of the posts by the radical group.
Less threatening, but still troubling incidents include, Republican Sen. Ted Cruz and his wife being harassed by protesters at a restaurant, while one restaurant asked White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders and her family to leave.
