Is Alec Baldwin Running For President In 2020? Here Are The Tweets Causing Speculation.

On Monday, Hollywood actor and ardent Trump-hater Alec Baldwin sparked speculation that he might be making a 2020 presidential bid after he fired off a couple of tweets expressing such interest.

Baldwin, who was recently arrested for physical assault in New York, said that beating President Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election would be “so easy.”

“If I ran for President, would you vote for me?” asked the actor. “I won’t ask you for any [money]. And I promise I will win. Beating Trump would be so easy. So easy. So easy.”

In a follow-up tweet, Baldwin noted that posing such questions on social media saves him “millions” of dollars “in polling.”

The actor of “The Departed” fame frequently plays an angry, dumbed-down version of Trump on sketch-comedy show “Saturday Night Live,” and has been vocal in his hatred for the billionaire. In December, for example, Baldwin labeled Trump a “curse” that must be exorcised from the United States.

“Trump is a curse, brought down on us as punishment [for] our sins. The slaughter of Native Americans, slavery, Japanese internment, Vietnam. Every hateful, misogynistic, racist notion, intertwined w our better nature, Trump embodies those,” he wrote. “He is us. Now we can face it + exorcise it.”

As noted by Fox News, Trump and Baldwin exchanged words back in February.

“Nothing funny about tired Saturday Night Live on Fake News NBC! Question is, how do the Networks get away with these total Republican hit jobs without retribution? Likewise for many other shows? Very unfair and should be looked into. This is the real Collusion!” the president tweeted on February 17.

Baldwin responded, “I wonder if a sitting President exhorting his followers that my role in a TV comedy qualifies me as an enemy of the people constitutes a threat to my safety and that of my family?”

Suffice it to say, the two are not fond of one another.

But if Baldwin really were to throw his hat into the ring with other Democratic challengers, his hot-headed behavior might be an issue with the American voters — or at the least fodder for President Trump, who has a knack for effectively mocking and permanently branding his opponents in a single soundbite.

Baldwin was arrested in November for punching a man over a parking spot in New York. He was charged with assault.

“It looks like it was a dispute over the parking spot, and the person in custody punched him,” said New York Police Department Det. Sophia Mason, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Baldwin later addressed the incident on Twitter, writing, “Normally, I would not comment on something as egregiously misstated as today’s story. However, the assertion that I punched anyone over a parking spot is false. I wanted to go on the record stating as much. I realize that it has become a sport to tag people w as many negative charges and defaming allegations as possible for the purposes of clickbait entertainment.”
