Melania Gives Graceful Response When Asked About Criticism Over Her Red Christmas Trees

Earlier this week, first lady Melania Trump caught a flurry of media attention after she unveiled the stunning Christmas decor that she chose for the White House.

While the first lady received praise from some, others weren’t big fans of a particular aspect of her decorations.

As IJR previously noted, people mocked her red Christmas trees and used the opportunity to take a shot at her husband’s administration:

While speaking at Liberty University on Wednesday, Melania gracefully moved past the criticism and smoothly transitioned into a warm welcome for Americans to visit the White House.

“We are in [the] 21st century and everybody has a different taste,” she told former Fox News host Eric Bolling.

“I think they look fantastic,” she added. “I hope everybody will come over and visit it in real life. They look even more beautiful. You are all very welcome to visit the White House, the people’s house.”

This was just the latest of comparatively superficial criticisms that the first lady responded to after her husband took office.

Last month, critics complained about Melania’s decision to wear a pith helmet during her trip to Africa.

When asked about those criticisms, Melania said, “I wish people would focus on what I do, not what I wear.”
