New Document Are Released Related To JFK’s Assassination

The National Archives published over 3,800 documents Monday regarding the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

The Archives issued a statement saying that 441 of the documents have never been seen by the public before and 3,369 have been made public with portions of the documents redacted.

Among the documents, there are transcripts and 17 recordings with Yuri Nosenko, a former KGB agent who defected to the United States in 1964, right after Kennedy’s assassination.

Nosenko claimed that he was leading the KGB file on Lee Harvey Oswald, who the Commission determined was the lone gunman who shot and killed the president.

Congress passed the President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collections Act of 1992, which meant the National Archives had to preserve all documents connected to the assassination even the release of the JFK movie the previous year.

The movie made by Oliver Stone directly contradicted the determination of the Warren Commission, saying that Oswald could not have been the lone shooter and that Kennedy’s death was a result of a conspiracy.

Kennedy’s brother, Former Attorney General Robert Kennedy, had his doubts about the conclusions of the Warren Commission.

RFK’s son, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., said his father believed that the commission report was a “shoddy piece of craftsmanship.”

He also said that his father even thought that the president had been assassinated as a result of a conspiracy involving Cuba, the mafia or perhaps rogue agents in the CIA.

The JFK Records Act requires all documents connected to the Kennedy death to be released by October 26 of this year (the 25th anniversary of the passage of the law), unless the president considers specific documents should not be released for national security reasons.

More documents will be public by the end of this fall. There are over 5 million pages of records connected to the assassination made public till now.
