Pro-2A Parkland Survivor Kyle Kashuv Just Pulled Off the ‘Biggest High School Conservative Event Ever’

The shooting in February at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, in which a man opened fire with an AR-15-style rifle, left families and survivors devastated — as well as one survivor standing up for what he believes in.

This week, Parkland shooting survivor Kyle Kashuv became a role model for young conservatives as he planned and spoke at Turning Point USA’s High School Leadership Summit.

“People disregard high school kids all the time, but they understand the importance of these kids as the next generation of leaders,” Kashuv told Fox News.

According to Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, over 800 students attended and listened as Attorney General Jeff Sessions, Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos, former White House press secretary Sean Spicer, Donald Trump Jr., and others spoke at the four-day event.

Amid the debate over stricter gun regulation, Kashuv has stood up in defense of the Second Amendment and hopes to “push conservative values.”

Turning Point USA wanted to hear the experiences from those who attended:

“This is the first time I’ve been with many young conservatives, because it’s a pretty unpopular opinion with people my age,” Jarrett Wiggonton, an 18-year-old from Virginia, told The New York Times.

“Go get ’em, go get ’em,” Sessions told attendees during his speech.

The National Rifle Association (NRA) contributed to the conversation toward young activists:

“As Americans, we all have different point of views, and it’s important to represent them all equally,” Kashuv, who will be a senior this fall, told CBS’ “Face the Nation” back in the spring.

“The reason why I’m doing what I am today is not because I wanted to. It is because there was a necessity for someone to do it,” Kashuv told Fox News.

Peers at the Turning Point USA event shouted “USA! USA! USA!” as Kashuv took the stage for questions.
