The Cracker Barrel brand is equivalent for good food and southern-style friendliness, but a racist black girl didn’t see that when she was there on Sunday. When she entered the restaurant, she was terrified by what she saw.
Ijeoma Oluo, a social justice activist, went to the Cracker Barrel for the first time and one thing cached her eye. She didn’t notice the southern-style hospitality or the kindness of the employees, instead, she centered her attention on the color of the skin of the people who were there, which was dominantly white.
Oluo wrote hateful, racist post on Tweeter attacking the “white folk in cowboy hats” at Cracker Barrel because it seems that she didn’t feel safe. “At Cracker Barrel 4 the 1st time. Looking at the sea of white folk in cowboy hats & wondering ‘will they let my black ass walk out of here?’” she wrote.
Most of the customers wouldn’t even bother about the others at the restaurant, instead, they would have enjoyed their meal regardless of the skin color of the people there.
It’s ironic that Oluo was worried about her safety just because the dominant skin color was white. It’s commonly known that in dominantly black cities the crime rates are higher especially black-on-black crimes.
Oluo’s illogical fear that “white folk in cowboy hats” will harm her is ridiculous. There is definitely no safer place than the Cracker Barrel where friendly people come to eat each day.
This is why she got the response she deserved on Twitter.
I'm thinking no one but you & a few like you noticed anyone else's skin color.

So you're judging people based only on how they look?
