Senate Judiciary Committee Is Inviting Donald Trump Jr. To Testify

Donald Trump Jr. will soon be testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee about his 2016 meeting with a Russian lawyer.

Committee Chairman Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, stated senators main concern is the series of emails between Donald Trump Jr. and music publicist Rob Goldstone

Trump Jr. will be called to testify by letter, and if he refuses, a subpoena will be issued, Grassley said.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., stated she would like Trump Jr. to testify before the committee next week.

“This is aired on front page newspapers. It should be aired front-page (in the) United States Senate. The committee of jurisdiction is clearly the Judiciary Committee,” she stated earlier this week.

The emails that Trump Jr. released are evidence of his communications with Goldstone, who said a Russian lawyer had harmful information on Hillary Clinton and wanted to set up a meeting. Donald Trump, Jr. said that he met the lawyer, but she never offered any information about Clinton.

The emails about the meeting had the sentence, “This is obviously very high level and sensitive information but is part of Russia and its government’s support for Mr. Trump.”

Many people claim that these emails are proof that Russia was working with Trump campaign, but other have different opinions.

Grassley stated that Donald Trump Jr. testimony will clear the air.

“I think it’s just raised a lot of questions. But the real way that I feel comfortable inviting him is ever since President Trump was elected,” Grassley stated Thursday. “It seems like every conversation that has come from somebody in the family where there’s been some sort of issue, they’ve seemed always to be very, very open.”

The Senate Judiciary Committee has been investigating Russian interfering in the U.S. election.

The emails between Goldstone and Donald Trump Jr. are just a trigger to invite Trump Jr. to testify, Grassley said that sessions with Trump can be wide-ranging since there is no rule banning senators from asking anything they want to ask.”
