Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) has gained a lot of attention since being sworn into Congress, and the ladies on “The View” are putting her on a pedestal. But co-host Meghan McCain knocked that thought down during Friday’s show.
The ladies on the show discussed Ocasio-Cortez using Twitter to attack fellow colleagues and the president, but McCain said the self-described democratic socialist’s tweets were the same as President Donald Trump’s.
The congresswoman has shown her clear disapproval of the president since being sworn in — from her remarks claiming there’s “no question“ Trump is racist, to bashing the president and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for allegedly violating human rights, to unloading on the president in her first floor speech.
The hosts talked about the session Ocasio-Cortez co-hosted with the House Democratic Policy and Communications Committee, in which Twitter representatives joined, to share with her Democratic colleagues “the most effective ways to engage constituents on Twitter and the importance of digital storytelling,” according to USA Today.
Class was in session this morning! I was thrilled to offer some insights on Twitter and social media to my. colleagues this morning.

Co-host Sunny Hostin went on to say that Congress members should “absolutely” be Twitter-savvy,
McCain, however, said Ocasio-Cortez and Trump are “two sides of the same coin.”
“I will say, if you like what Ocasio-Cortez is doing with Twitter, I think she’s just like Trump on Twitter, I think she doesn’t care, she does whatever she wants, says whatever she wants, and it’s two sides of the same coin,” McCain said.
“So if you’re mad at Trump on Twitter, you gotta be mad at her,” she added.
Hostin didn’t agree, though, saying Trump is “mean and nasty on Twitter” while Ocasio-Cortez is “pretty effective in terms of sending out a message” on the social media platform.

McCain isn’t the only one bashing Ocasio-Cortez, as some of the freshman’s Democratic colleagues have said they’re tired of her “sniping” at people, with one saying “there’s a difference between being an activist and a lawmaker in Congress,” as IJR Red reported.
