Trump Is Reminded Why He Ran for President During ‘Powerful Moment’ With Army Member

During President Donald Trump’s Christmas visit with troops in Iraq, he was reminded why he became president in an inspiring moment.
As IJR previously reported, the president and first lady visited members of the military stationed in Iraq. This was the first time since becoming president that Trump had visited a combat zone.
Many were quick to criticize the president but had to take back their statements after reports were released about the trip.
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders also joined the president and first lady, and she documented the couple interacting with members of the military. One interaction, in particular, caught her attention, and she posted the story on social media.
One soldier told the president that he had rejoined the military due to Trump.
“And I am here because of you,” the president responded, expressing his gratitude to the Army member.
Powerful moment – Member of United States Army told the President he came back into the military because of him. And President Trump responded, “And I am here because of you.” I met him after and he gave me the patch from his arm. Incredible. #TrumpTroopsVisit pic.twitter.com/WmQf3b2K8X

Sanders also stated that the military member gave her the patch off his uniform as a way of saying thank you.
The president also posted a video of him greeting troops and interacting with them.

During his presidency, Trump has been an outspoken supporter of the military and its service to the United States, and this trip was an opportunity to share his gratitude in person.
