Trump Lays It Out for Dems After Canceling Holiday Plans: ‘Come On Over and Make a Deal on Border Security’

On Saturday, President Donald Trump seemed to try to shift responsibility onto the Democrats amid another government shutdown.

As IJR Red previously reported, the president decided to forgo his New Year’s plans at Mar-a-Lago so that he could stay in Washington, D.C., to reach a deal to end the shutdown, which started over his request for border wall funding.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), however, reportedly was vacationing in Hawaii during the shutdown. Trump seemed to taunt her and other congressional Democrats on Saturday when he argued that they spent too much time on “Presidential Harassment” rather than negotiating with him.

“I am in the White House waiting for the Democrats to come on over and make a deal on Border Security,” Trump said.

“From what I hear, they are spending so much time on Presidential Harassment that they have little time left for things like stopping crime and our military!”

“Presidential Harassment” appeared to refer to the ongoing probe into Trump’s alleged ties to Russia.

Also on Saturday, Trump accused special counsel Robert Mueller of obstructing justice when the Department of Justice (DOJ) deleted 19,000 text messages from the phones of former FBI employees Peter Strzok and Lisa Page.

“These Texts were asked for and INVALUABLE to the truth of the Witch Hunt Hoax,” he said. “This is a total Obstruction of Justice. All Texts Demanded!”

As the Washington Examiner noted, the DOJ already recovered those texts. Trump, however, might have been demanding greater public exposure.
