Trump Says The ‘Fake News’ Media Puts The ‘Lives Of Many’ At Risk

President Trump on Sunday blasted the “dying newspaper industry” for reporting fake news, but also warned that the media’s “Trump Derangement Syndrome” is putting the lives “of many, not just journalists, at risk.”

Trump said 90% of the coverage of his presidency has been negative, although in reality the president has had “tremendously positive results” and he spanked a couple of newspapers by name, The Washington Post and The New York Times:

The president’s rant came hours after both newspapers released differing takes on their private White House meeting on July 20.

Sulzberger issued his own statement in which he said he “told the president directly that I thought that his language was not just divisive but increasingly dangerous.”

“I told him although the phrase ‘fake news’ is untrue and harmful, I am far more concerned about labeling journalists ‘the enemy of the people,’” Sulzberger said. “I warned that this inflammatory language is contributing to a rise in threats against journalists and will lead to violence.”
