A 55-year-old New York resident, identified by authorities as Patrick W. Carlineo, was arrested Friday for allegedly threatening to kill Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota in a threatening phone call last month.
In that call, placed to Omar’s office, Carlineo referenced the Muslim Brotherhood as he attacked the staffer who took the call for working for Omar.
“Do you work for the Muslim Brotherhood? Why are you working for her, she’s an (expletive) terrorist. I’ll put a bullet in her (expletive) skull,” he reportedly stated.
The complaint accuses Carlineo of threatening “to assault and murder a United States official with intent to impede, intimidate and interfere with such United States official while engaged in the performance of official duties, in that he threatened to kill United States Congresswoman Ilhan Omar…”
The Elmira Star Gazette reported that Oma’s office referred the threatening call toCapitol Police, who then coordinated with the FBI in the investigation which eventually lead to the arrest.
The FBI agent who interviewed him states in the court document that Carlineo stated during that interview that “if our forefathers were still alive, they’d put a bullet in her head.”
The agent also related that Carlineo called himself “a patriot” and said that he “loves the President, and that he hates radical Muslims in our government.”
Carlineo went before U.S. Magistrate Judge Marian W. Payson on Friday, and will face a detention hearing on Wednesday. If found guilty of the charge in the complaint, he could face up to 10 years in prison.
