Trump Trolls Nancy Pelosi for Saying He Didn’t Have Enough Votes for Wall Funding After House Passes Bill

On Thursday, President Donald Trump took a victory lap around House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) after he was able to obtain border wall funding in a spending package passed by her chamber.

“Soon to be Speaker Nancy Pelosi said, last week live from the Oval Office, that the Republicans didn’t have the votes for Border Security,” Trump said.

He seemed to refer to the contentious meeting he had with Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.). After that meeting, both parties appeared to be at a stalemate and a government shutdown looked even more likely for the end of the month.

The measure may face a tougher battle in the Senate where Republicans still maintain their slim, pre-midterm majority. Trump, nevertheless, celebrated and indicated that Pelosi should apologize for what she said.

“Today the House Republicans voted and won, 217-185. Nancy does not have to apologize,” he said. “All I want is GREAT BORDER SECURITY!”

The border wall has been a centerpiece of the president’s agenda for the past month as he committed to shutting down the government if necessary in order to get the desired funding.

After the House bill passed, however, he argued that the shutdown was Democrats’ fault.

“The Democrats now own the shutdown!” he said on Friday morning.
