The U.S. aircraft carrier, the USS Nimitz, just approached the Persian Gulf and it is prepared to fight the terrorists who come its way.
As Business Insider reported, the Nimitz wasn’t alone. The aircraft carrier was accompanied by a guided-missile cruiser and four destroyers.
Rear Admiral Bill Byrne, the commander of Nimitz’s carrier strike group said that this mission is very serious.
“For the Nimitz Strike Group, today is game day,” Byrne stated. “When you hear the roar of the jets today it is for real; it’s game on.”
“Our pilots and aircrew are demonstrating our continued commitment to this region and all of our partner nations,” he continued, according to Stars and Stripes.
Monday, July 31 the first attacks were fired.
According to Navy Technology, this is a part of Operation Inherent Resolve, which was created in 2014 to conquer the Islamic State Group in Iraq and Syria.
The U.S. Navy also wants to make sure that the other allies won’t gave up, so with the presence of the Nimitz they hope to show that their support in this war.
Furthermore, the aircraft carrier and its attack group are going to work to keep any sense of regularity in the zone, like a secure trade. And will maintain the safety of the residents there with maritime security checks.
Rear Admiral Byrne said, “Our pilots and aircrew are demonstrating our continued commitment to this region and all of our partner nations,”
Even though there are no reports of how many Islamic State Group fighters the Nimitz has taken down so far, there is one thing pretty sure and that is that no terrorist can beat this aircraft carrier.
