It’s no wonder that President Trump is calling to drain the swamp. Treachery runs deep within our own party, with even the most respected members turning out to be corrupt.
Rand Paul squared off against John McCain and 97 other senators who voted to pledge our military to protect the small nation of Montenegro. “Nobody wanted to have this debate. They want to rubber stamp. They want no debates, and they want to send your kids to war,” warned an impassioned Rand Paul.
Rand Paul began his speech with a nod to President Trump’s inaugural address: “We need to put America first and protect our own borders before we protect the borders of another country.”
The libertarian senator forced a debate on whether Montenegro should be accepted into the NATO alliance. The military alliance was formed shortly after the close of WWII, and it was designed to stave off an attack from the Soviet Union.
President Trump openly criticized NATO during the presidential campaign, claiming that it is outdated and unnecessary. The alliance has not changed tactics since the defeat of the Soviets at the end of the Cold War, and it is incapable of addressing the problems of international terrorism.
The alliance is not just outdated, but it is also very expensive. We pay for $650 billion of the $900 billion NATO budget. Only five of the 28 members are currently meeting their minimal obligations, via CNN.
Despite this, establishment politicians like John McCain think it is wise to add another poor country to this foreign welfare program. The remote nation of Montenegro barely has a military — just 2,000 soldiers. America will receive no benefit from their inclusion into NATO.
Even advocates in support of expanding NATO do not pretend there is a benefit to America. Instead, they argue that we need to include Montenegro to prevent a global takeover launched by Russia. Rand Paul astutely points out that we already beat the Soviet Union, but NOT with military might. We won because capitalism is stronger than socialism.
The expansion of NATO and the spurious allegations that President Trump is working with Russia all lead back to the same establishment goal: war with Russia. They are ramping up for such a conflict, and they are attempting to force Trump to agree. If Trump wants to spare American lives, it will be “proof” he is working for Russia.
The fact that Democrats want to throw innocent American lives away just to make a point is sickening, but it’s something we’ve come to expect from the party. They’re willing to stop at nothing in order to have their narrative play out.
The liberals want us to go around providing free defense for the whole world. These countries have nothing to offer us in return, and Democrats, along with RINOs like John McCain, want to bring them to America AND spend our tax dollars putting their home countries on welfare. Enough is enough!
