WATCH: MSNBC Guest Calls Vice President Mike Pence ‘The Jesus Whisperer’

On Saturday, President Trump delivered a speech in which he offered a compromise regarding border security.

In exchange for $5.7 billion to be used for “a steel barrier system, including embedded investments in technology and roads,” as well as approximately $2.9 billion to be used for “humanitarian assistance,” the hiring of more border and immigration personnel, and investment in more specified technological improvements, the president offered DACA and TPS concessions to the Democrats:

Provisional status will be granted for three years for current DACA recipients, covering 700,000 illegal immigrants brought here by their parents at a young age. This status will give them access to work permits, social security numbers, and protection from deportation.

Provisional status will be granted to certain current TPS recipients for three years, providing 300,000 immigrants whose protected status is facing expiration more certainty as Congress works on a larger immigration deal.

Shortly after the speech, MSNBC’s Al Sharpton hosted a panel discussion featuring legal analyst Katie Phang, former Trump administration official Omarosa Manigault, and Co-Founder and Managing Editor of The Beat, Tiffany Cross.

During the panel, Sharpton and Cross had the following exchange:

SHARPTON: Is [there] anything in your research [that] in any way, shape, or form confirms the stuff that [Trump] portrayed in terms of the people that are seeking to come to this country?

CROSS: Rev, let me first say that this deal was put together by Secretary of all the things Jared Kushner, and by the Jesus whisperer, Vice President Mike Pence. This is not a deal any Democrat was consulted on or had the opportunity to touch. This president has tried to connect the drug war with the immigration crisis and he failed.

Although some on social media criticized Cross’ choice of words, many loved her “Jesus whisperer” remark:

Tiffany Cross, guesting on “Politics Nation,” just dubbed Mike Pence “The Jesus Whisperer,” and I durn near slid off the couch laughing.

Did you call Pence the Jesus whisperer? I like it!

Hats off to Tiffany Cross who just called Jared Kushner “Secretary of all the Things” and Mike Pence “The Jesus Whisperer” on @MSNBC

Loved your comment of @VP as the “Jesus whisperer.”

Let’s put a comparable shoe on the other foot. If a guest on Fox News were to refer to Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), or Rep. Andre Carson (D-IN), all of whom are practicing Muslims, as “Muhammad whisperers,” would anyone take offense? They most certainly would.

Will anyone in the mainstream press take offense to Tiffany Cross’ comment?
