WATCH: Trump Talks To Kid Calling Santa Tracker, Melts Internet

In case you didn’t see it because the internet imploded shortly after it was posted: On Christmas Eve, President Trump briefly manned the phones for NORAD’s Santa Tracker alongside First Lady Melania and took a call from a 7-year-old girl. Like just about every statement he’s ever uttered, Trump’s opening line to the kid sparked hilarity, outrage, mockery, and, of course, hysterical accusations of Trump putting kids in “cages.”

“Are you still a believer in Santa?” Trump asks the 7-year-old caller, Collman Lloyd. “Because at seven it’s marginal, right?”

Video of the moment was highlighted by the Daily Beast:

Responses online ranged from stunned disbelief to rage and mockery to non sequitur refugee references and accusations of Melania secretly working for her “motherland” — as well as some guilty admissions that Trump just made them laugh. A few examples, including from Trump-executor Kathy Griffin:

A few folks admitted that the moment was kind of funny:

The Post and Courier reports:

Trump, who sat in the Oval Office in Washington, D.C., was suddenly on speaker phone in Lloyd’s kitchen.

“Are you still a believer in Santa?” he asked.

“Yes, sir,” she said.

Then the president asked her a puzzling question:

“Because at 7, that’s marginal, right?”

Lloyd had never heard that word before, “marginal.”

“Yes, sir,” she said.

She didn’t know it, but his comment about her age being marginal — and her response — would spark national news stories that night and the following morning.

Lloyd never did learn Santa’s whereabouts, but she was glad to be able to talk with her nation’s leader.

“I was like, ‘wow.’ I was shocked,” she said. “It wasn’t really (nerve-wracking), I just had to think of what the truth was.”

Here’s the Lloyd’s video of Collman talking with Trump on Christmas Eve:
