Former NFL Linebacker Thinks This Team Will Sign Colin Kaepernick

Former NFL linebacker Shawne Merriman may have just provided the public with some insight into Colin Kaepernick’s situation.

When he was leaving a Poppy in Los Angeles last night, TMZ asked Merriman if he knew anything about the Texans considering signing Kaepernick. Merriman goes back a while with current Houston coach Bill O’Brien – he played football at the University of Maryland while O’Brien was a running backs coach there.

“I know he’s about that life. He’ll do it. If he’s still the same person…85-90 percent Colin will be in Houston,” he told TMZ.

O’Brien started to express interest in Kaepernick after QB Deshaun Watson tore his ACL last week. During a presser yesterday, he revealed that his coaching staff is taking a look at Kaep.

“Oh yeah, everybody gets discussed. Is that a problem? Isn’t that the way most teams do it? People seem shocked by that,” O’Brien said. “Colin Kaepernick’s a good football player, hasn’t played football in a while. But these things are discussed daily and they’ll continue to be discussed.”

Although O’Brien seems a bit defensive – or at least tight lipped – about the whole process, it seems Merriman might have some insider info. Signing Kaepernick to the Texans would be an interesting move to say the least, as owner Bob McNair made waves last month when he compared NFL players to prisoners.

We’ll see if the Texans really are “about that life” in the coming days.

WHO GIVES A DAMN. If you are boycotting NFL like I am it does not matter who they hire. They can all go belly up together as far as I am concerned.
